GRAHAM CHAPMAN

Born in 1949 Graham Chapman was a British-born singer whose family had emigrated to Brisbane in 1954. Graham attended Camphill State School and after he left school, he worked in the rag trade. Chapman recorded his first single ''Baby Let Your Hair Down/Feel So Good'' in 1966 on the Kommotion label followed by ''Mr Blue/Lover Girl''. Both singles failed to chart. Later he entered a talent quest for Channel Nine and won a trip to Sydney. His manager Brian Fehon contacted EMI producer David Mackay and an audition was arranged. Mackay liked what he heard and signed him to a contract. He recorded a few more singles of which ''Gee I'm Gonna Miss You'' was his best-selling hit. In the mid-70s Graham Chapman moved to New Zealand and soon after became lead singer of Salty Dogg, a band that released two singles and an album 1976-1977. After Salty Dogg broke up, he stayed on in New Zealand for a while before returning to Sydney where he worked in the clubs for many years as a singer and compere. Chapman aged 60 died in 2009.

  1. Hi, could you please tell me the date and month that Graham Chapman was born as well as the date and month that he died? As I've tried Wikipedia and it only shows the Graham Chapman from "Monty Python" not the singer. Many thanks. John.
