THE RONDELLS

Although The Rondells performed well into the 70s my entry is for the 60s lineup. My reasoning is there were so many incarnations of the band after 1967 its almost impossible to track all of its members. Also after 1967 no recordings were made either.

The Rondells (previously named, the Lincolns and then the Silhouettes) were one of the more notable bands on the Australian music scene of the mid-1960's, if only for the fact that most of their members went on to serious careers in music. The initial formation was Dennis Tucker on bass, Dennis Collins on drums, Ron Gilbee on rhythm guitar and Bernie O'Brien on lead guitar. They first showed up in an important way on record backing Bobby & Laurie on "I Belong To You, " before getting signed themselves to the Go!! label in 1965. Gilbee left the band being replaced by John Sullivan and they cut a pair of singles and an EP. Not long after Bernie O'Brien left to make way for Roger Treble. Wayne Duncan and Gary Young replaced Dennis Tucker and Dennis Collins. The Rondells also backed other artists including Bobby Knight, Lynne Randell, Buddy England, Billy Adams and Bobby Shore.  Dennis Tucker and Ron Gilbee would later turn up in Jigsaw, O'Brien in Saltbush and Duncan and Young would become the rhythm section in Daddy Cool.
