Margie Bayes born in Richmond Victoria in 1945, started singing at the age of five appearing on Swallow's Juniors. In her teens she was a regular TV singer on The Go!! Show, Kommotion, Sunnyside Up and appeared on the daytime show called Woman’s World. She did a lot of gigs on the dance circuit appearing at Festival Hall numerous times. Signed to the W&G label her first record was "Why Can't I Go Surfing?" in 1965 written by Johnny Chester. It was her most successful single. She released another three singles and an EP. Unfortunately, a throat condition she contracted in the late 60s cut her music career short and she never performed again.
