JOHN LAWS

Richard John Sinclair Laws, CBE (born 8 August 1935 in Papua New Guinea), an Australian radio presenter, sometimes known as ''Lawsie'', was from the 1970s until his retirement in 2007, the host of a hugely successful morning radio program, which mixed music with interviews, opinion, live advertising readings and listener talkback. His distinctive voice earned him the nickname the Golden Tonsils. Though officially retired between 2007-2011 he returned in February 2011 to host a morning programme on 2SM and the Super Radio Network. As a recording artist John Laws released over 20 singles and nine albums on various labels such as Festival, Rex, W&G, Philips, Ambassador, EMI and RCA and appeared on Bandstand and Startime. At the ARIA Music Awards of 2008 he was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
