THE WALTONS

The Waltons was an indie pop band, formed in Perth in 1985. Craig Weighell [John Boy Walton] on drums, Val Tarin [Pablo Walton] on bass and Dan Tarrant [Wally Walton] on guitar originally debuted The Waltons as a three-piece band outfit in 1985 for one performance only, but the band didn't commence again until early 1986 adding Glenn White [Tennessee Walton] on guitar. The band's first single, "My Husband Beats Me / Coca-Cola Is Coke" was recorded at James Hewgill's Northlake Studios in August, 1986. The trumpet was provided by Adrian Wood (aka Huck Walton). The single was released in May, 1987 on Easter Records.

The second single, "Coast to Coast / We're The Waltons" was recorded at James Hewgill's Northlake Studios, during late 1987. The single was released on local label Monkey Music in March 1989. Around this time, the Waltons also recorded "My Baby Left Me For A Truck Driving Man", which they provided for the 6UVS Drivetime compilation album 'Hometown Farewell Kiss'. A third single, "Cherry" was recorded at Planet Studios in the middle of 1991. The songs were co-produced by the Waltons and Dom Mariani (ex-Stems) but were never released. An album, 'The Waltons', essentially a compilation of all eight of the Waltons studio songs together with a recording of a live performance at the Coronado Hotel in 1991, and a rare Waltons song, "Lost In Suburbia", which was taken from a Coronado soundcheck. They disbanded in 1992.
