In the mid 70s Bob recorded his first album 'Truck Stop' with Laurie Allen, Col Joye and Jim Cooper on the ATA label in the Col Joye's Studio. His first single release was ''Motivatin Day / Trucker's Lullaby'' in 1975. Both songs were composed by Laurie Allen from Bobby and Laurie fame. Around this this time Bob was carrying his now famous Bat Masterton cane. In 1976 Bob won a Gold Guitar at the Tamworth Country Music Awards. Things really started to move for Bob with airplay on South Australian radio, then interviewed on Sydney radio 2UE. Bob's next album 'Cross Country Cowboy' was recorded at Smokey Dawson's Ranch in 1978 and this was followed by 'Black Sheep' recorded on the Nev Nicholls.... Nicholls 'N' Dimes label released in 1985 through RCA Victor. In 1988 he was inducted into the Tamworth Hands of Fame. Cowboy Bob Purtell died on 03 July 2019

Cowboy Bob Purtell had a daughter named by the name of Roslyn Freeman and she has a singing voice as sweet as a rose. Look out for her future recording release at a date to be announced.
ReplyDeleteDo you have any updated infomation on Roslyn Freeman. I would love to hear sing. Bobby was a great man, him and my father st=hared many a good laugh together and an a few ales to keep the whistle wet.
