THE FUN ADDICTS

The Funaddicts are a second wave ska band from Brisbane, Australia who emerged in the mid-80's and quickly gained a solid reputation for high energy Ska gigs around the East coast of Australia. Taking inspiration from the British and Australian bands of the time like The Specials, The Beat, Bad Manners, Allniters and Strange Tenants, the Funaddicts attempted to combine the fun and frivolity of Ska/Reggae with politically based lyrics, best exemplified in songs like Mandela, Greed & Power and Queensland, while tunes like What's Going On and All Day Till Midnight showcased their nuttier good-time side.

Things were really looking big for the future, however live venues started to become scarce and forced the band into a different direction. The decision was made, rather than taint the bands Ska roots, the name would be changed and The Funaddicts would be put on hold.A re-union show late in 1990 confirmed to all that the band was still a formidable unit, however family and work commitments with band members forced them to again put things on ice.
