Terry Hannagan had a diverse musical career, dabbling in TV jingles, composing music for the surfing film 'Morning of the Earth,' MC-ing and performing at venues like the Folk Centre and PACT, and teaching at youth clubs and arts centers. Early on, he spent a few years hitchhiking through northern NSW and Queensland with fellow performer Peter Woodward, making ends meet by laboring and playing music.
“My enthusiasm outweighed my technique by about 9 to 1 back then, and I never thought about making a living out of music,” he later admitted. Known as a lovable rogue, Hannagan released a well-received album, 'Tired from the Trip,' in 1971 under EMI. Despite critical praise and being issued on the collectable prog label Harvest, the album didn’t gain traction. Hannagan only recorded three singles: ''Tired From The Trip'' (1971), ''It's All Over Now, Baby Blue'' (1971), and ''Ballad Of Bundemar'' (1980), the latter of which was never released. In the 1970s, he contributed four songs to a Radio Double Jay documentary about the unsolved murder of Juanita Nielsen, an Australian publisher and conservationist who disappeared in 1975. Hannagan also provided songs and harmonies for Doug Parkinson’s debut solo album, 'No Regrets.'
