Mustang are a 4-piece metal-based punk rock band originating from Tasmania. Formed in 1997, Launceston's Mustang always had a large cache of descriptive terms for itself. "Two-fisted music action", "pumping kind of stuff" and a show that would "rip everyone to shreds" and "blow everyone's minds" are some of ways they have summed themselves up. The hard rock devotees who proudly expressed their love of bands like Kiss and Motorhead as their inspiration.
In their first year, they chalked up some impressive credits. Their first demo, the pensively titled 'Hellpigs', sold out at one gig as the band attracted a strong local following. They also took the role of support band to national acts like Magic Dirt and Powder Monkeys, with whom they toured Tasmania. Most impressive was their inclusion on a CD that was distributed world-wide. The song ''Can't Get Off'' will feature on the Au-Go-Go compilation that was distributed by US label Mordam. To date they have released four albums.
