GREG ANDERSON

Greg Anderson was born in Melbourne in 1950 and by the age of 15 months was appearing with his parents on tour in England in their stage act at venues like the London Palladium. By the time he was ten years old, and back in Australia, Greg was performing on all the major television shows singing and gained his own stage show for Coca Cola which travelled throughout his home state of Victoria and then joined Channel Nine's Tarax Show with weekly performances. At 15, Greg gained national recognition by achieving Grand final status in Australia's prestigious television talent search Showcase, this led to him being represented by the number one management company, NLT in Australia's entertainment capital, Sydney.

Greg’s first record was released on the Kommotion label the A side ''I Feel Good'' and the B side ''When It’s All Over'' followed by ''I've Been Unfaithful / Mickey's Monkey''. When he finished school to become a full-time professional entertainer, he was soon in big demand as a multi-talented, country to pop performer, singing, dancing, playing guitar, piano and drums in a high-powered act that thrilled audiences throughout the country. Greg represented Australia at Expo Japan which was televised throughout the world to millions of people and as songwriting became very important to Greg, his song "No Roses For Michael" that he wrote for the award-winning film of the same name, shot to the top of the charts and further broadened his horizons.

Greg continued recording and released the singles ''Shame / It's Wrong'' and ''Thank Your Lucky Star / It's Over'' in 1972. 1975 Greg established Gala Productions with renowned actress and life partner Lynda Keane. From the very beginning through to the new millennium Gala trained and represented some of Australia’s leading talent, launching them into their first major professional successes. From a modest single studio, the business grew to 15,000 square feet, completely refurbished studio complex off Broadway in 1990, which included audio and video recording facilities, theatrettes and management offices. The training and management facilities became second to none in the industry and Greg and Lynda ventured into producing many successful televised and stage performances.

Greg appeared with Sammy Davis Jnr. at Variety's Heart Awards in Australia and Sammy was so impressed he wanted Greg to take on America, so when he was asked to appear at the International Variety Awards at Disney World in Florida in 1992, he decided to take Starstruck, a new Colt by Butch Cassidy. Qantas flew Starstruck over in a 747 Jet. The International audience had never seen a show the likes of Greg's and they gave him and Starstruck a standing ovation. Greg was convinced it was time to try his luck in the USA and kept Starstruck in Nashville and started preparations to return.

In 1995 Greg and Starstruck opened Dolly Parton's brand new “Dixie Stampede Theatre” in Branson Missouri to rave reviews, where he is appearing daily in the 1000-seater Carriage room for two very successful seasons and released his first U.S. album 'City Cowboy'.

The next few years saw Greg performing between U.S.A. and Australia, with Nug Nug Butch Cassidy doing the shows in Oz while Starstruck remained in the U.S.A. Some show highlights included The Variety International Awards at the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas and a special trip all the way to Montana to perform with Wayne Newton at the foot of the Snowcapped Mountains to a who’s who audience of international business tycoons.

In 1999 Greg was signed again by Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede to perform his one-man one-horse show at her Myrtle Beach South Carolina theatre and continued there for the next four years. Dolly said “When the folks at Myrtle beach told me they wanted to find something big, fun and unique to the show, I immediately thought of Greg… It’s good to have him back in the Dollywood productions family.” When Dolly decided to open another Dixie Stampede Theatre in Orlando Florida, Greg and Starstruck were immediately signed to open the new theatre in June 2003 where they are currently performing in the 1200 seat Carriage Room Theatre.

Greg currently has 2 CD’s titled 'Christmas For Cowboys and Inspirational Songs', which contains some of his all-time favourite Christmas and Gospel songs has just been released and is selling like hotcakes. The album was recorded at Emerald Studios in Nashville using Reba McIntyre’s band who are among the best musicians in the country. After 4000 shows at Dolly Parton’s Theatre Greg and his family, relocated to Las Vegas and now rotates between Sydney Australia and the U.S.A. performing and breeding Quarter Horses.
