LOADED DICE

Perth band Loaded Dice started out in the mid 70's as a cover band primarily playing 60's beat music but specializing in Beatles songs. They went through a few line-up changes and gathered quite a large fan base, to the point that some nights the doors had to be closed at certain venues. After so many years of playing covers, the band decided it was time for a change and present themselves as an original act. While they recorded many demos along the way and occasionally adding them to their set, it seemed that the locals certainly weren't interested but that's normal in Perth. It was time to bite the bullet and become 100% original and the band ventured into a proper studio and recorded the classic album 'No Sweat' in 1979 on the WEA label. Two singles were released, firstly "Mam'selle / Baby" and then "Telephone / Keep Your Dress On". They had very good songs and were very good at making the crowd rock in their hometown but when they moved to Sydney it was hard to get the local crowds interested and it wasn’t long until they disbanded and returned home. They finished up in the early 80s. In 2012 they recorded a live album 'Reloaded' from their performance at the Charles Hotel in Perth in the same year.  Phil Flanagan died in 2021.
