VYT AND THE WORLD

Vyt Zvirzdinas signed with CBS in the mid-60s and, under the management of Nat Kipner, recorded his debut single ''Why Do I Cry'' (a cover of the Boston garage rock classic by The Remains) at Ossie Byrne’s Hurstville studio in 1966, backed by The Bee Gees and Steve and The Board. His follow-up single, ''Only Me / Act of Innocence'', came out in 1967. Soon after, Vyt decided to form a band to create original music, teaming up with close friend Chris Eggleton to form The World. The group released two singles: ''Dapper Dan / Flower Children'' (1967) and ''Tiny Timothy / Silhouette of a Shapely Miss'' (1968), before disbanding later that year due to unforeseen circumstances. Eggleton went on to compose soundtrack music, including the early Nicole Kidman film BMX Bandits, while Vyt founded Advance Entertainment Pty Ltd to promote and produce rock events. Drummer Arthur Watson died in 2009.
