Blues Incorporated were a mid-1960s Ballarat-based beat group, legendary in their local scene. They won a couple of local battle of the bands competitions, and in 1967 their manager, Rob Brodie, arranged a recording session at Armstrongs Studio under the Scope label. They chose to cover The Who’s ''The Kids Are Alright'' and The Everly Brothers’ ''Let It Be Me'', with Roger Savage, who had worked with the Rolling Stones in the UK, as the recording engineer. Initially recorded under the Blues Incorporated name, legal reasons forced a change to The Explosive Mind. Based on research, this was likely the only rock-based single released by a Ballarat band in the 1960s, making it the earliest Ballarat rock officially pressed on vinyl. ''The Kids Are Alright'' later appeared on the compilation albums 'Scope: Hitmakers' (1967, Scope) and 'The Go!!/Scope Labels Volume Two' (1999, Canetoad). David Jasper died in 2006. Graeme Hodge died in 2021.
