THE SYSSYS

This Adelaide band was popular around the disco scene in South Australia in the mid to late 60's. Their first single ''Jump Back / Take A Heart'' was released on the Leedon label in 1966. Their second and last record was ''The Singer Not The Song / Baby Don't Do It'' was released on the RCA label in 1967. The Syssys played in many venues around Adelaide and Elizabeth; they even did a tour in Melbourne. The Syssys were a popular backing band, and they backed many artists including John Farnham at the Octagon Theatre in Elizabeth in about 1966. In recent years two of the tracks by The Syssys were re-released in a 60’s music compilation called 'Big Beat Cellar Scene, The Lost Sounds of Adelaide 1965-70'. On 28 February 2008, Geoff McAllister was playing at a jazz club with his trio as part of the Adelaide Fringe Festival. Sadly, during the performance Geoff suffered a fatal heart attack and he passed away at the age of 63 years.
