Tina Date supported a number of international performers during their Australian tours including Judy Collins and the two became good friends. In the late 60's Tina travelled to North America and ended up staying with Judy Collins in New York. She performed around Greenwich Village and was managed at the time by Arthur Gorson who also managed the likes of Phil Ochs, Tom Rush and David Blue. During this time, she dated Phil Ochs the American songwriter and protest singer.
In the 70's Tina hosted a weekly talkback radio show on Double Jay. She also co-hosted a TV show with Stephen Maclean that featured interviews with artists and performers. These experiences as a broadcaster ultimately led her back to New York and the United Nations where she wrote and produced radio programs on a broad range of subjects including a pioneering and successful weekly women's program. Her later work with the UN had her managing large events at UN headquarters including the launch of the International Year for Indigenous People, where she found a place for Yothu Yindi in the program.
In 1970 she recorded an album with producer Shel Talmy. The album was themed around the story of Ned Kelly. Friend and artist Martin Sharp did the cover artwork and it featured Albert Lee on guitar and Clem Cattini on drums. Sadly, due to contractual issues it was never released though Tina says she was very happy with it.
