Formed in the early 90s Neophobia was a youthful traditional-style straight ahead thrash metal band from Sydney's western suburbs. The band's first album, 'Fear Of The Future' was recorded on the Warhead label in 1993 while several of the boys were still at school. The line-up at this stage was Ken Mitchell (vocals and bass), Andrew Howard (guitar), Chad Bartosik (drums) and Jason Callaby (guitar). Neophobia's music at the time was raw and under-developed but evoked comfortable similarities to the work of Megadeth. Shortly after the release drummer Grahame Goode joined the band and soon afterward guitarist Nathan Howie replaced Callaby. International supports in 1994 and early 1995 raised the band's profile somewhat and the second album, 'Nothing' was a much more mature release, although suffered from a lack of really strong material. Mitchell left shortly afterwards, and the band continued with Matt Wright (bass) and Steve Barron (vocals) for some time until Goode left in the beginning of 1997 and the band folded.
