CHRISTBAIT

Christbait was the pioneering band of a sound later adopted by acts such as Blood Duster and Pod People, a pounding, heavy death/grind with a stoner groove. Formed by a bunch of school friends in 1989, the band had soon shed a rhythm section before linking up with drummer Jason Dutton and bassist Nadia Markovic for their initial demo. Dutton then joined Acheron and was replaced by Markovic's brother Lenny and work began on the 'Yeast' CD, the title of which Blood Duster would parody a few years later.

Despite the popularity of the band, their incredible magnitude and strong supports to the likes of Helmet, Fear Factory, Killdozer and Morbid Angel, Christbait found acceptance from the industry virtually impossible and after the album 'dirtypunkmutha' (1995) was recorded the band split up, with the Markovics joining Budd and Westwood and Miszewski moving on to Dern Rutlidge. Dutton later joined Sithlord.
