Country rock band formed in Sydney in the late 70s. The initial lineup was Guy Dickerson (vocals/guitar), David Mare (vocals, guitar, harmonica), Mark Collins (banjo, mandolin, guitar), drummer Doug Bligh (ex-The Clik, Galadriel) and bassist Bruce Worrall (ex-Sherbet). They released the single ''When The Money Runs Out'' through Polygram which received considerable airplay in country areas but city stations were slow to pick it up. After the single was released Dickerson departed and was replaced by Phil Emmanuel (ex-Gillian Eastoe and Hot Dog). Emmanuel brought a raunchy and meaty rock element to the band.
Worrall was later replaced by Kempsey rock bass player in Chris Haigh. Goldrush toured with Dolly Parton, Leon Russell, The Amazing Rhythm Aces and Willie Nelson. Nelson's band were so impressed with Goldrush that they actually left their dressing rooms to watch them and they even caught them at a gig at the Musicians Club in Surrey Hills. Willie's agent Stu Carnell told their manager he'd like Goldrush to tour the USA. Unfortunately that never eventuated. They continued to work around Sydney until they disbanded in 1984. Phil Emmanuel died in 2018.
