A popular Perth band from the mid-60s, the Little Wheels was formed by Russ Kennedy, who had previously led the well-known Perth group the Nomads. The Nomads were a hit in their time, often serving as the support act for big-name overseas and interstate artists at the Capitol Theatre in Perth, including Johnny O’Keefe, Del Shannon, The Searchers, Peter and Gordon, Eden Kane, and Billy J. Kramer. Signed to the Clarion label, Russ Kennedy and the Little Wheels released two singles in 1966 and remained a staple of the Perth pub and nightclub scene until Kennedy formed Soul Purpose in 1967. Russ Kennedy died in 2021, followed by Cliff Toll in 2025.
