THE NOMADS / GUS AND THE NOMADS

Formed in Sydney. They were signed by EMI and released two singles on Parlophone. The first "If You Let Me / It's Alright" came out in October 1966 with a second "Good Times / Don't You Fret" in February the following year.  The band competed at the 1967 Battle Of The Sounds (won by The Groop) and came seventh. The band toured the eastern states. Also released was an extremely rare EP credited to Gus & The Nomads. The Nomads issued a third and final single in 1970 "Time To Get It Together / Don't Come Knocking" on Columbia. It became Gus' last recording as frontman and band members who included Tony Hamilton, Graeme Thompson & Jim Duke-Yonge all went on to form the now legendary Pirana later that year. Jim Duke-Yonge died in 2019.
