THE PARTY MACHINE

Following the split of their previous band The Pink Finks, Ross Wilson and Ross Hannaford formed a new group called The Party Machine in early 1967 which had a more radical sound influenced by Frank Zappa and Howlin' Wolf. The new band tried out a few bass players and drummers before settling on kiwi Mike Rudd (ex-Chants R&B) who had just come over from NZ and drummer Peter Curtin. In 1968 they released a single ''Gentle Art / You've All Gotta Go" on the Columbia label. In 1969 their printed songbooks were confiscated and burned by the Victorian Vice Squad for being obscene and seditious. Wilson disbanded The Party Machine after receiving an invitation to travel to London to join expatriate Australian band Procession during 1969.
