THE SAXONS

The Saxons were formed in Melbourne in the early 60s as an instrumental band. Signed to the W&G label they released one EP and a couple of singles. They were the resident band for the Sunday afternoon Festival Hall shows. Johnny Cooper joined them in 1964 as a vocalist for a short period which included supporting Billy J Kramer and The Dakotas on their 1964 tour of Australia. When they called it quits, Danny Finley joined the short lived but highly successful MPD Ltd with Mike Brady and Pete Watson.
