CHARLEY BROWNE

Heavy metal band Charley Browne formed in Melbourne in 1981 by guitarist Mike Handcock and drummer Mike Logan. Influenced by Kiss and Cheap Trick, Charley Browne completed two albums, 'Battle Fatigue' in 1983 and 'Powerpalace' in 1986. The band saw several residencies and toured eastern Australia in the mid 80's. It's all original sound is pretty timeless, and the songs are a composite of riffs written mostly by Mike Handcock, with contributions by Alex Gal and Joe Tilli. The band was signed to Opal records and in 1985 it's single ''Highway'' sat on the Australian charts for a number of weeks amongst a foray of new wave music. The band split up in 1987, and Velasco, Tilli and Handcock went on to reform Tohjo with singer Peter Hoffmann. The band went through many lineup changes over the years. The band reformed in 2015 and released the album 'Resurrection' in 2016.
