The Sea Monsters were formed in 1982 by Billy Gruner and Dean Denham as an electro/funk outfit. The duo released two singles "Black Rum" and "City Of Funk / Tables And Chairs'' which had Deborah Conway from Do-Re-Mi on backing vocals. They also released one album 'Winter Sun'. In early 1985 Dean Denham departed the band. Many claim that the Denham/Gruner writing team produced the best songs and was the most successful. Billy Gruner then changed the musical direction of the band and focused on a rawer garage rock sound spawning the albums 'Fuzz Dice Cult' and 'Lost Days'. They toured extensively along the east coast of Australia. The band split up in 1991.
