THE WYLIE-WEST BAND


The Wylie-West Band formed in Adelaide in the late 70s as a country rock band. They appeared on TV several times most notably The Don Lane Show. They toured extensively and supported international performers including Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson and Jerry Jeff Walker. Signed to EMI they released their first album 'Cheap Port And Wine Drinkers' in 1980 with the lineup of Sue Wylie (vocals), Les Neale (guitar), Robert Loizou (guitar), Peter Glenister (drums) and Freddie Jim West (bass). Most of the tracks were country standards written by Dolly Parton, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash etc. In 1981 West End Brewery released a special edition beer can that included The Wylie-West Band at the Southern Country Festival Willomurra Stud, Kersbrook on the label. The second album 'Making Tracks' was sponsored by the brewery. Most of the tracks were written by the band. They finished up in 1986.
