TONY JOHNS

Tony Johns came to prominence as a solo/singer/songwriter in the early 1980's around Newcastle. He honed his skills performing in bars and clubs in that region as well as Sydney and the east coast and eventually touring abroad doing shows in London and resorts in Austria and Greece. A highlight at that time was being support act to Roy Orbison. His career was given a boost when a song he’d penned about the evils of drunk driving called ''PCA (The Easy Way)'' reached the top 10 in the local Newcastle Music Charts. This encouraged him to concentrate more on his song writing and over the next 10 years he wrote and recorded albums of his own songs including 'The Way I Live' in 1988 and 'The Valley' in 1994. In 2016 he completed the recording of 'Natural', an album he began recording 20 years earlier but was delayed due to a medical condition affecting his vocal chords. This album features a variety of other singers who came in to help Tony complete the project as his singing career had ended. He currently resides on the shores of Lake Macquarie, NSW, Australia, where he continues to write and perform music as a solo guitar/harmonica instrumentalist as well as performing with other artists.
