BENNY AND THE JETS

Popular Newcastle band that formed in 1974 by local legend Rick Pointon (ex The Others, The Second Thoughts) as a rock and roll revival band. They were regulars at arguably the most famous pub ever in Newcastle, The Star Hotel pulling in big crowds as they played their 1950s-inspired rock three times a week. The band appeared on TV and played with Sherbet, Dragon, Hush, Billy Thorpe, Stylus, TMG, Radio Birdman and many more. In 1978 they released a single ''I Can Do It'' on the ATA label.
