DEL JULIANA

Del Juliana born Delores June Giuliani in 1942, had a magnificent strong singing voice, striking red hair and a vibrant personality. She was raised in Maroubra Sydney and started work on the TV show Sydney Tonight as an acrobat at age 14. She was a vocalist performer from age of 19 on Johnny O’Keefe’s TV show, first called the Johnny O’Keefe Show and then called Sing Sing Sing from 61 – 65. Channel 7 signed her exclusively for those four years. Signed to the RCA label she recorded two singles with ''(I Say) You're Driving Me Crazy'' reaching the lower end of the charts. She supported Screaming Lord Sutch's tour in 1964.

Del toured throughout Australia with Johnny O’Keefe until he died in 1978. She also toured as herself supporting the likes of Chubby Checker, Gerry and The Pacemakers, and Herman’s Hermits. She toured in the Rockarama show throughout the early eighties with Little Pattie. She played the clubs until 1990 Del Juliana has gone down in history as the singer who almost supported The Beatles on their 1964 Australian tour. Whether she pulled out or was overlooked is unclear, but her place seems to have been taken by Johnny Devlin. Del died of cancer in 2012.
