Former barrister Garry Travers gave up his career when he made the startling choice to become a singer songwriter. His recording career started in the early 1970s. His first single the self-penned ''Leonardo-Vincent-Gauguin'' was released on the Ultimat label in 1971. Moving to the M7 label his next release ''It’s Never Really Over'' which charted at #28 in 1972. Garry moved to the UK for a short time and some of his singles were recorded on the Pye label. On return to Australia he picked up a support slot for Diahann Carroll at the Sydney Opera House. He appeared on TV doing shows like The Ernie Sigley Show etc and was also cast in movies like Hans Christian Andersen (1970) and Billie Jo Spears (1981).

I was a big fan of Garry's music. They were catchy songs. I was surprised they didn't reach much higher on the charts.
