VAUXDVIHL

Vauxdvihl was formed in 1992 by guitarist and songwriter Fab Gallen. Originally the band was called Vaudeville, but there was already a band of the same name, so they went with Vauxdvihl. After initial difficulties, to complete the composition of the band, they released a demo containing three songs, all on the 1994 debut album, 'To Dimension Logic'. The lineup was Fabrizio Gallina (guitar, vocals), Edward Katz (bass, guitar, keyboards), Chris Delov (drums, keyboards, piano), Frederic Leduc (guitar) and Stacey Handchild (vocals). This album was paid for at their own expense. Critics hailed it as a milestone in the field of progressive and avant-garde heavy metal. The magazine Rock Hard chose it in 2010 at sixth place of the 15 most important progressive metal albums.

Following the album release Frederic Leduc and Edward Katz left the band. The remaining two members of the original line-up recorded a demo in 1996 and a EP 'Vog' in 1998. An interview with the music magazine Rock Hard announced the second studio album was no longer on the table, as the band was unable to complete a record deal and didn't have the financial resources for self-production. A planned collaboration with former founding member Paul Read also did not come into existence because at the end of 1998 he died of leukemia.

In 2001, the band released with Siberian Church Recordings their 1996 demo, supplemented by the recordings to Vog pieces unused. Around the same time, the band broke up. Early 2014 Century Media announced that the label will republish the entire back catalogue of the band.  In early September appeared a double CD with the pieces of the album 'To Dimension Logic' and the two EPs 'Siberian Church Recording' and 'Vog'.
