Trevor Spry was a rock journalist and panelist on Uptight and Happening 70. He recorded under his first name Trevor. He was a teenager when he first took an interest in music and by 1970, he achieved his first top 40 hit with "Crying In The Rain" on the Tempo label which got to #30 nationally. In 1971 he recorded the Johnny Young written and produced ''Love (Is All Around)'' on the Festival label. The single reached the bottom of the charts in Melbourne. Spry took out a trotting owner/trainers license in the early 70s and had immediate success with a number of handy horses including his all-time favourite Apollo Shining, Roman Chapel and Kings Mead, which was the inaugural winner of the Winfield Cup (now known as the Victoria Cup) in 1974 when driven by Bill Le Sueur, who along with wife Merrily became lifelong friends. Trevor had been a resident of the Euroa nursing home for a number of years due to failing health. He died on Feb 24, 2015.
