CHARIOT

In 1974 Dennis Wilson returned to Australia and played with Kahvas Jute for about a year, during which they played with Bo Diddley, as his backing band for a national tour. After that he co-founded Chariot, a band which toured constantly for four years, releasing two singles on the Wizard label and becoming a well-known act nationally. During this time Dennis furthered his reputation as one of Australia's foremost electric guitarists in one of Australia's hardest working bands.

  1. I first heard Chariot -- the only time I heard Chariot, actually -- was on Radio Australia, probably very late 1976 or early to mid 1977, when "I'll Still Be Loving You" was played once on their 'Countdown' program. I distinctly remember the lead guitar part being very distorted and running through a phaser.... haven't heard that since. Info on this band, in general, is hard to come by. Thanks for posting this article and the vid link. A lot of great Oz rock, which was particular to the domestic Oz rock and pop scene at the time, never really got available until YT. Supernaut, Ted Mulry, Red House, Hush -- they were big names in Oz but for those of us overseas it was just Radio Australia or nothing. Any albums that made it over here were compilations, and got zero airplay here. Bands like Supernaut and Hush and Red House never got LPs released here at all. For Oz rock fans like myself, YT has been a godsend. Peace.
