BUDDY ENGLAND

Buddy England was born Ian Kilgower in Surrey England in 1946. At the age of eight he migrated to Australia and grew up in Melbourne. His career as a professional singer began at the age of 18 being one of the first artists to appear on the Go!! Show. By 1965 he released his first single, ''I've Come Of Age'' but it wasn't until the following year that he scored a hit with ''If I Never Get To Love You''.

Buddy's problem was getting hold of original material and his next two singles were both revivals. Finally, he obtained a new song from the US called ''Movin' Man''. The result was his biggest selling single. Buddy's follow up was a cover version of ''Sunny'', which coincided with his departure for the UK in September 1967. He recorded and worked in Europe until his return in 1969 when he released ''A Wonderful World''. The latter half of the year was spent in a brief stint with The Mixtures.

Buddy went on to become A&R manager at Astor Records. In this position Buddy was responsible for discovering and promoting a number of artists including Benjamin Hugg.  From 1970 to 1971, England owned and launched Air Records and produced all of its artists, including the Vibrants, Mick Hamilton, the Tangerine Balloon and Tony Pantano. Also, in the early 70s he teamed up with Ian Turpie and released some singles on the Air label using different band names: The Love Story with ''Neanderthal Man'' and Tadpole with ''Throw A Little Lovin' My Way''. In 1977 he joined The Seekers for a few years replacing Bruce Woodley. England still writes and records on his farm on the outskirts of Melbourne, Australia. In 1993, he released the album 'Fate's a Fiddler, Life's a Dance'. The majority of album's material was written and produced by him.
